A Guide To The Edgewood Academy Series By P.H. Nix
“She’s our missing link,” I profess. “No,” Wes exclaims. “She’s the gold filling our broken pieces, reminding us that there is beauty in our damaged parts.”
— The Edgewood Academy Series
What’s It About?
Edgewood Academy is a 4-book dark high school romance series written by P.H. Nix. I actually believe it is her debut series too, and what a way to make an entrance!
The book begins with chaos. Ariah’s father has gone missing which has led to her family falling apart. Even though she’s only in high school, Ariah has essentially become the parent for her 3 younger siblings. When a long-lost family inheritance offers her the opportunity to get her family into a safer neighborhood and better school, she takes it. What she doesn’t know is that this same opportunity puts her in a game of life and death, one she didn’t choose but was assigned to her since birth. And this game? It involves stealing the hearts of the 5 heirs of the town, who must put on a ‘Bachelor’ like show in order to choose one wife to share amongst themselves….all to appease the traditions held up by the town’s secret society.
There are so many twists and turns in this series. Just when you think you’ve figured it all out, you’re thrown for another loop. Nothing is as it seems.
The full series is available on Kindle Unlimited. You can find it in my Amazon Shop here, or you can click the images below to go to each book.
Tropes Include: dark romance, high school romance, college romance, secret society, mafia, reverse harem/why choose, surprise pregnancy, happy ending, and more.
The Setting
The Edgewood Academy series takes place in the fictional town of Edgewood — the first three books occurring on the high school campus with the last book occurring on the college grounds. Both schools are old, having been founded by a secret society that’s been around for generations, with classic architecture but modernized interiors where it counts. Both are elite schools and both are named after the town they’re located in: Edgewood.
Edgewood itself was founded by 5 families: the Edgewoods, the Grants, the Washingtons, the Jeffersons, and a family line that is kept secret [it is revealed at some point but I won’t spoil it for you]. These families have formed their own secret society, which in truth is only a small part of an even greater society. There are so many secrets within the walls of this exclusive town and all are revealed in the book series.
The Main Characters
While there are many characters in this book series, there are 6 that the books center around: Ariah Bishop, Wesley Edgewood, Sebastian Grant, Wyatt Grant, Owen Jefferson, and Levi Washington.
The Side Characters
While there are many characters in this book series, there are a few side characters that you’ll find make a big enough impression. They include Shay, Samantha, and Teagan.
My Rating For The Whole Series
★★★★★ — 5/5 Stars
This series gripped me from the first page of book one. From the beginning it was an emotional rollercoaster full of twists and turns. It’s rare that I find a book series that I swallow up in days, one where I don’t want to let the characters go. I truly enjoyed each and every character. I absolutely loved how all the guys didn’t immediately fall in love with Ariah. Wyatt was the only one to ‘fall in love at first sight’. All the other guys took their own time.
Each character was layered and nuanced and it was great to see them grow throughout the series. And the villains in the story…let’s just say they were beyond unhinged in my eyes and I think P H Nix did an amazing job writing them.
The storyline held its own throughout the series and the spice [while amazing] did not overshadow it, which I loved. There were so many unanswered questions throughout that just felt like a huge puzzle. You weren’t quite sure who could be trusted. But, by the end everything was resolved with no lingering questions, AND it ended on a happy note [I’m a lover of happily ever afters].
I don’t want to give too much away cause I truly believe spoilers ruin a book. But, if you love a good bully romance that’s dark with secret societies and mystery but with a good level of romance and spice, I say give it a go. And this is coming from someone who in the past was not big on reverse harem books. But this one [chef’s kiss] had me changing my mind.
Book One: Twisted Selection
My Personal Rating — ★★★★★ — 5/5 Stars
After her father goes missing and her mother dives into a deep depression, Ariah’s family falls apart, leaving her to care for her younger three siblings. When news of a family inheritance comes her way, Ariah jumps on the chance to get her siblings into a safer home and school. What she doesn’t expect? To run into the Edgewood Elite heirs at her new school.
Wesley, Wyatt, Levi, Owen, and Sebastian all throw her for a loop. While Wyatt immediately feels it’s love at first sight, Wesley is ready to run her out of town, while the others just aren’t quite sure what to make of her. And then when this weird game gets thrown into the mix, one where the 5 heirs are meant to play ‘Bachelor’ and choose one lady to be their wife to share and Ariah gets chosen as one of the potential women…let’s just say that’s where a lot of twists and turns flip her world upside down.
I give this book 5/5 stars. First off, I fell so in love with Ariah’s sass. She literally takes no shit and whatever is thrown at her she gives back even worse — and not just with her words but with her fists. There are so many catfights in this book where Ariah is putting girls in their place. I love a good FMC who is strong AF and refuses to deal with anybody tearing her down.
The storyline is also A1 and had me gripped from the beginning. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love a good romance book [give me all the spice], but with all the twists and turns that happen not only in this book but in the whole series, it actually has a really good plot that kept me on my toes. This book does end on a cliffhanger but the entire series is complete so you can jump right into book 2 with no waiting. It’s book 1 in a 4-book series, full of spice and angst and is available on Kindle Unlimited. You can get book one in the Edgewood Academy series here.
Book Two: Ruthless Rejection
My Personal Rating — ★★★★★ — 5/5 Stars
So book two…man. Okay so Ariah is now one of the potential brides-to-be in this fucked up game where the 5 heirs at school must pick one girl to share AND marry. The problem? Girls, who are also potential brides-to-be, keep getting killed off. The game has just gotten dangerous. Life threatening. And yet, page by page, each of the 5 heirs [except for Wyatt of course cause he was smitten from the beginning], begin to fall for Ariah and her for them. And let me tell you…each one on their own is swoon worthy…but together. My lips are sealed. Read it for yourself.
This book gets a 5/5 from me. It had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. I couldn’t put it down. And yes, it ends on a cliffhanger, one that makes you immediately want to download book 3, because WTF? The heartbreak is real. It’s available on Kindle Unlimited [and Amazon in general] — you can get it in my Amazon Shop here.
Book Three: Brutal Revelation
My Personal Rating — ★★★★★ — 5/5 Stars
Book 3 is basically a novella — aka a real short read. At about 80-pages, it covers the Summer after book 2’s cliffhanger [one that definitely tore me to pieces]. I mean, not only did Ariah get her heart broken, but technically so did the 5 heirs. The guys have no access to her because she ran away and on top of that the guys have been threatened with Owen’s life if they don’t comply. Not knowing who to trust, they ‘do what they have to do’ and follow the rules of the game until they can find a way out. But with so many people turning on them and being true snakes in the grass…you’re left wondering if they’ll ever escape this hell.
This book gets a 5/5 from me. I don’t care that it was short — and I don’t usually care for filler books in a series…but this one answered so many questions. It’s available on Kindle Unlimited [and Amazon in general] — you can get it in my Amazon Shop here.
Book Four: Beautiful Ascension
My Personal Rating — ★★★★★ — 5/5 Stars
Beautiful Ascension is the last book in the Edgewood Academy series, and honestly, I took my time with it cause I just wasn’t fully ready to say goodbye to these characters I’d become attached to.
Ariah is still reeling from a broken heart, not knowing why she was rejected by the heirs. The heirs are being forced to comply to a game they no longer want to play, but with Owen’s life on the line, they’re stuck.
Ariah comes back to Edgewood pregnant [with twins] and with her guns blazing. She’s ready to take the heirs and their secret society down…but will she change her mind when she finds out the truth?
This book gets a 5/5 from me. I love a good old happy ending and while this series [and this book] had so many twists and turns making you think things would end badly…it didn’t [phew…cause I don’t think my heart could take it]. And then at the end there’s this moment where I just…I really thought the author tricked me and ended things on a sad note, but kudos to you P H Nix. You wrote one hell of a series and I am definitely looking forward to reading more of your work!
This is the final book in the 4-book series and it is available on Kindle Unlimited [and Amazon in general] — you can get it in my Amazon Shop here.
